5 Stages of Grief
Elizabeth Kubler-Ross studied people  facing a terminal illness and published the landmark book "On Death And Dying". Her 5 stages of grief are:
1) Denial
2) Anger
3) Bargaining
4) Depression
5) Acceptance

You can read about all these stages of grief ... and more ... in Aurora's book.

Aurora was not facing a terminal illness, but dealing with the death of her 33-year-old husband. He was her best friend, her business partner, and the father of her 4-year-old son.

The stages of grief experienced by a person dealing with the death of a loved one are not the same as the stages of grief of someone facing a terminal illness.

7 Stages of Grief
Another popular model of the stages of grief has 7 stages:
1) Shock and Denial
2) Pain and Guilt
3) Anger and Bargaining
4) Depression, Reflection, Loneliness
5) The Upward Turn
6) Reconstruction & Working Through
7) Acceptance & Hope

You will read about all these stages of grief ... and more ... in Aurora's book, "From Heartbreak to Happiness: An Intimate Diary of Healing."

4 Stages of Grief
Dr. Phil's model of the stages of grief has the fewest steps. He has the 4 stages of grief model:
1) Shock
2) Denial
3) Anger
4) Resolution

What about the Stages of Healing Grief?
Aurora Winter is a former TV executive producer who became passionate about helping people heal grief more quickly and easily after her husband's sudden death at the age of 33.  Aurora is the founder of the Grief Coach Academy, which trains grief coaches.

5 Stages of Healing Grief - Overview
Aurora Winter's 5 stages of healing grief are:
1) Get support
2) Express your feelings
3) Accept what happened
4) Forgive everyone everything, including yourself
5) Help others

5 Stages of Healing Grief - Details
1) Get support

You have to be willing to ask for support. Getting support is essential for rapid healing.

2) Express your feelings
Unexpressed feelings are like food poisoning. You need to get what is bothering you out of your system.

3) Accept what happened
When you stop fighting and resisting what is ... when you can accept what happened as if you had chosen it, your victim energy evaporates. When you don't feel like a victim, gratitude is what remains. In "From Heartbreak to Happiness", you will read about the life-changing dream Aurora had on the 2nd anniversary of her husband's death that allowed her to finally accept what had happened as if she had chosen it. This enabled her to be grateful for the gifts she had received - many years of loving, the beautiful gift of her 4-year-old son, and the opportunity to grow and help others.

4) Forgive everyone everything, including yourself
Resentment is like taking poison and waiting for other person to die. When you forgive, you are freed from the past and empowered to live a joyful life in the present and create a meaningful, joyful the future.

5) Help others
The final stage of grief is when you lend a helping hand to support others. That's when you know that you have healed.

What are the stages of healing from grief?

The truth is that grief is very personal and the stages of grief are only a guideline, or an intellectual attempt to capture what is an emotional journey.

To truly understand the stages of grief, it would be necessary to know the intimate feelings of a person going through the stages of grief.

And that is the gift of Aurora Winter's book "From Heartbreak to Happiness: An Intimate Diary of Healing."
